Our Mission

We exist to help U.S. Military Veterans and formerly incarcerated men successfully reenter the community. By combining stable housing with trauma‑informed care, we reduce recidivism and homelessness while restoring dignity and hope.

Residents receive individualized case plans, life‑skills coaching, employment support, and connections to VA benefits and community partners. Our goal is simple: safe housing today, independent living tomorrow.

About our Founder

As a formerly Unhoused Veteran, the founder Darren Hendon has worked with various populations such as transitional age youth, juvenile offenders, civilian families, domestic violence victims, and most recent years, formerly incarcerated Veterans.

He is the Founder of Veteran Social Services Inc in Los Angeles California and has dedicated his life towards assisting Veterans exiting from military service. Nonetheless, his focus has been Veterans and formerly incarerated individuals. Because Darren Hendon has been a member of the 12-step recovery program since 1989, his passion of providing continuous care, guidance, and support to Veterans and Formerly Incarcerated individuals with barriers. Helping them rebuild their lives.
​Mr. Hendon was chosen to represent the Veteran community as a Leadership Table Member for the County of Los Angeles  in 2024.. As an expert in housing navigation and landlord engagement, Darren Hendon leverages his real estate and social services expertise to build effective partnerships with property owners and other service providers. He also holds a certification as a Peer Support Specialist from Loyola Marymount University. Mr. Hendon wanted to do more so he developed a relationship with the City of Barstow on providing housing for Veterans leaving Fort Irwin,Twentynine Palms, Marine Corps Logistics base and a few prisons.
